Building a useful sitemap
A sitemap lists the pages you want search engines to find. Include only canonical, indexable pages that return a normal 200 response, and leave out redirects, error pages and pages blocked by robots.txt.
Upload the file to your site's root, reference it in robots.txt and submit it in Google Search Console. A sitemap helps discovery, but it does not force indexing.
