Frequently Asked Questions
Is randomness cryptographic?
The generator uses crypto.getRandomValues when supported.
Is the password stored?
No.
Should I reuse generated passwords?
No; use unique passwords for accounts.
Creating passwords you can trust
Choose a length of at least 16 characters and include a mix of letters, numbers and symbols. Longer is always better than more complicated. The generator uses the browser's secure random number source, so each result is unpredictable.
Use a unique password for every account and keep them in a reputable password manager rather than in a notes file. Turn on two-factor authentication for email, banking and social accounts, because even a strong password can be stolen by phishing.
Some sites limit which symbols they accept. If a site rejects a password, generate another with fewer symbol types rather than shortening it.
Limits: the password is created on your device and never sent to us, but you are responsible for storing it safely. Do not reuse a generated password elsewhere.
